Pulwama, Nov 29 (KNO): Residents of Ameerabad Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district have started to repair and restore a dilapidated road of the area that according to the locals have not got any government attention for a long time. The road serves as a lifeline to scores of households in the area. “Precisely, the road is unusable because of the deep potholes, cracks and the accumulated dust.” “We have been visiting the R & B office for more than a year wherein we have submitted several applications. But nothing changed,” said Ghulam Rasool, a local resident. He said, “On daily basis, school going children and patients are suffering because of the dilapidated road. Since we have not received any government attention, we decided to repair it ourselves.” Another resident Mudasir Ahmad, a shopkeeper by profession, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that “The department kept assuring us that work would start soon, but that turned out to be a fake promise. Although, we pay taxes, yet we have to fix the loopholes of the road on our own.” “We are not doing this out of choice but out of compulsion,” added Mohammad Ashraf, a farmer of the area. The residents have urged the R&B department to carry out proper macadamisation of the road. “We have done only the basic repairs. This is not a permanent solution," Gulzar Ahmad, another local, said. The residents requested the government to repair and macadamise the road at earliest—(KNO)
